Supporting Children in Public Care in Schools (SCIPS)

‘SCIPS’ is an awareness raising training course that provides an insight into the experiences of children who are in public care and offering ideas for their support. It was developed after research with care-leavers, designated teachers and carers.

John and Catherine Randerson, then of the Interagency Link Team, Hull developed the project with help from the Educational Coordinators of the Special Educational Needs Support Service in Hull.

Topics addressed include the concept of corporate parency, the experiences of children being ‘looked after’, issues of attachment, ‘PEPs’ and how to help and support children and young people.
